Environmental Volunteering
In partnership with Cairns Regional Council, we offer clients the opportunity to join in with regular activities that are part of Council’s environmental management of local parks, the plant nursery and the community garden.
Clients may gain a range of benefits from being involved, including improved mental health, connection with nature and others, better physical health, enhanced social skills, and work readiness.
Council staff also benefit from an improved understanding of volunteers – creating a positive experience for all!
Those taking part are provided with training and support from Council staff, a pair of safety boots and Occupational Therapy support to help ensure that their participation is a success.
The commitment of volunteers (and support workers where appropriate) is to complete an induction and then volunteer at one or more of the activities for 3 hours each week (usually 9-12am).
